Who am I?
I love design. (Lucky me, my job is fun.) I've always loved drawing and making things. And I've been an athlete my whole life. On skis and in skates since I was two, and on whitewater long after I should have known better. I love dogs, and I advocate for animals. And I love travel and being somewhere unfamiliar and a little disorienting, because somehow that is when my brain really switches on. I'm afraid of snakes but I catch and release spiders.
How did I get here?
I came to design through my two first loves, art and technology. Art on one side, drawing, illustration, animation. Technology on the other, video games, the messy early internet, the first digital cameras and smartphones.
What I worked out early is that I see everything through a design lens. I made the logos and the uniforms for my hockey teams. I started the online communities for the whitewater paddlers. Whatever I love, I end up shaping it. Design is how I get my hands on the things I care about.
Working with me
As a designer and player-coach, I love being in the work, creating, experimenting, and pushing myself and others. I have an extremely high bar for craft, and I know the tools, systems, and constraints first hand.
As a leader and people manager, I love being strategic. I inspire and motivate by setting a design vision with clear direction and a sense of purpose. I care for my teams, and I know how to create the conditions where great design happens.
